Adam Montoya is one of the few people in the world who can earn a living combining "Call
of Duty" with chatter about what he's cooking for dinner. Montoya lives
in West Los Angeles, California, and is a star in the exploding field
of video-game commentary. Those who love video games and YouTube might
argue he has the dream job.
In short, game-play commentary involves recording yourself playing a
video game and uploading the footage to the Web, along with your remarks
on the game as you're playing. But Montoya doesn't always talk about
video gaming.
In the past, he mainly commentated over Call of Duty, but recently has
done a large assortment of smaller first person shooters, as well as
Minecraft Lets Play's and assorted other games with his fellow
YouTubers.
Getting the name SeaNanners: His gamer handle was sort of an accident. "Nanners" (slang for bananas)
was already taken, so Xbox auto-suggested "SeaNanners." It stuck.
Early Career: Monotya got admission in a business school for his graduation but soon he realized that it's not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. So Montoya studied filmmaking. But after earning a degree in
television, film and new media production, Montoya said he found himself
discouraged with trying to find a job.
Montoya loved playing video games. But little did he know that one of
his favorite pastimes would eventually power-up his career.
About his career on youtube Montoya said "I started because it was fun and over time it kind of developed into what it is now. It was a random coincidence."
Job: Seananners works for Machinima Respawn in Los Angeles with fellow
YouTubers such as Hutch, Mr Sark, OpTic J, Chilled Chaos, and Fwiz. On Dec 3, 2009, Adam posted a video titled "Machinima", in which he told that he is starting to work in Machinima as a director, so he will be posting videos directly on Machinima Respawn Channel. After working hard for almost 9 months, he made another video called "New Premiere Director" in which he asked if anybody is interested in becoming a machinima premiere director, since he has became a part of Machinima Respawn so his place as a premiere director is vacant.
Future Plans: Montoya knows he is
fortunate to have a career and a life that reflects his passions. When
asked what his plans are for the future, he pauses before answering.
"I definitely see myself
going above and beyond just my YouTube channel. There's a lot of
endeavors I'd like to pursue, and it might be cool to try game
development," he said.
Adam Montoya is one of the best in gaming commentary, he has gained so much popularity on youtube that his single channel "Seananners" alone has over 1.3 Million subscribers.
